Recovery Council Meeting – June 2009

The June RC meeting was very productive, as always. (See June Agenda and May Minutes.) Some Council assignments were postponed because of CARF accreditation surveys and other schedule conflicts. The Council reviewed its “job descriptions” as shown in the NLCMHA Recovery Council Concept Paper.  Also discussed was how to get more folks involved in ALL NLCMHA activities: How can NLCMHA increase consumer knowledge, input and participation among consumers here to continue educating on Recovery? Many Recovery and Anti-Stigma activity updates were discussed for Council input.  Most of the Recovery and Anti-Stigma projects already started (e.g., Recovery Calendar, Using Music as Part of your Recovery Kick-off on July 15th, Exercise without Exertion classes, Postcard/art/pictures/poetry books, Video filming of consumer recovery stories, Recipe Books, etc) were brought forward for feedback.  A major part of the meeting was discussing sprucing up the Learning Community meetings a little so that they are more interactive. Some suggestions included eating on a healthy budget, nutrition for your mind, and crafts/hobbies.

As always, if you have any ideas to contribute to the Learning Community or RC meetings, please let Recovery Coordinator, Mary Beth Evans, know either by a phone call at 989.366.2950 or email marybeth.evans@nlcmh.org.

We’d love to have you join us at any of our recovery meetings, groups, or classes. Please check the calendar to find the dates and times for your community. Hope to see you there!
