It’s National Suicide Prevention Week and mental health facilities want people to know more about depression and the toll it can take.
Northern Lakes Community Mental Health in Cadillac is trying to make sure people know what to do if someone may be at risk of taking their own life.
The facility holds a suicide alertness training program. They give tips and train people on how to handle potential suicide situations effectively.
They want people to educate themselves about suicidal signs and plans of action.
“There are resources here at community mental health, and there are counselors in the community in Northern Michigan,” said Northern Lakes Community Mental Health Prevention Coordinator Leilani Kitler.
