National Volunteer Week

The third week of March is our chance to celebrate our volunteers! At Northern Lakes CMH, consumers volunteer in a lot of ways:

Some people serve on Northern Lakes CMH committees and boards, as well as local, state and national committees and boards. Some speak out as Stigma Busters, to help bust the stigma associated with mental illness. People make presentations and share their experiences at community events, in videos, in photobiographies, and lots of other ways. Some people volunteer to represent their county at the annual Walk A Mile in My Shoes Rally each May. Some people post flyers on upcoming events in their communities or help assemble information packets for new consumers and for people attending Northern Lakes CMH conferences. Others write letters to lawmakers to advocate for others who have a mental illness or developmental disability.

Still others volunteer at all kinds of places in their communities. There is a place for all.
