Medicaid Expansion

Medicaid expansion has been a hot topic of discussion in our state recently. Some people we serve have asked about the number of people that would be helped as a result of expanding Medicaid. We came across this interesting map that shows the answer by county:

  • 32% of the uninsured in Leelanau County would be covered if we expand Medicaid. That’s 885 people.
  • 38% of the uninsured in Grand Traverse County would be covered if we expand Medicaid. That’s 3,703 people.
  • 46% of the uninsured in Wexford County would be covered if we expand Medicaid. That’s 1,880 people.
  • 45% of the uninsured in Missaukee County would be covered if we expand Medicaid. That’s 967 people.
  • 48% of the uninsured in Roscommon County would be covered if we expand Medicaid. That’s 1,516 people.
  • 49% of the uninsured in Crawford County would be covered if we expand Medicaid. That’s 831 people.
