Eva: My Story
I was 18 years old when I moved out of my parents’ house. I lived with my brother and sister-in-law until I graduated from high school. At age 20, I got pregnant with my first child. I had to let my brother raise her because I was in an unhealthy relationship. That really upset me. But I learned to accept that I gave my daughter away, knowing that I did it because I loved her and wanted her to have a good life. I lived in Texas by myself after my first divorce. Then I lived with a couple of friends. I rode horses, worked odd jobs, and went to local bars to drink.
Fast forward to 2009. Out of the blue, I got a phone call. It turned out to be my daughter, my first-born child, who I hadn’t seen in 31 years. She asked me if I wanted to come to Michigan to meet her and live with her. I was so excited! My brother and his wife flew to Texas two days later to get me and take me back to Prudenville, Michigan. I met my daughter at New Beginnings Drop-In Center in late fall of 2009. She was beautiful! We shared hugs and tears. I finally found the best friend I lost so long ago. My life today is now filled with so much love!
This just proves that what has been lost can be found!
