National Poetry Month – A Dream by Vida Archer

April is National Poetry Month, and in celebration, we are sharing this poem which was submitted by one of our consumers. We will be publishing a booklet next fall which will contain poetry, artwork, and photobiographies in order to spread the word about recovery and recognize the amazing talents of our consumers. Watch for it!

If you receive services from Northern Lakes CMH and are interested in sharing your creative work in this book, please bring your submissions to any of our Recovery Learning Community meetings.

A Dream, by Vida Archer

Standing
still
beside
the hill
where
buried deep
in
hopeless sleep
there
lies a dream.

The
pieces fell
she
hurt like hell
and
couldn’t cope
without
the hope
of
that one dream.

A
tree finds reason
with
each season
People
seem
to
need a dream
to
go on living.
