GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — Northern Lakes Community Mental Health received a $1.2 million grant this past month.

The grant comes from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA).

Right now CMH is in the planning process of what specifically the money will be used for.

Directors at CMH say it’s an honor to be selected for the grant because only 126 mental health grants have been awarded in the nation.

“It’s a great opportunity for the people that we serve because we can offer more integrated healthcare services that impact both peoples behavioral health or mental health and their physical health,” says Karl Kovacs CMH Chief Administrative Officer.

Kovacs also says that with the additional funds, they will be able to add to the number of days they are open and provide services.
