Health Care Reform/Integrated Care
Changes in Healthcare Coverage for people who have both Medicaid and Medicare
Recently the state of Michigan received money from Washington, D.C. to see if it could make a better system for people that have both Medicare and Medicaid. People who have both types of coverage are referred to as “dual eligibles” or “dual enrollees.” Michigan desires to improve the system so that the services funded by both Medicaid and Medicare work together better to improve care and reduce costs. For more details and information on the state planning see: Michigan Association of CMH Boards’ Changes in Healthcare Coverage for people who have both Medicaid and Medicare.
Northern Lakes CMH, along with the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Michigan, is coordinating a Community Information Forum (flyer here) to inform stakeholders about the impact of the State of Michigan’s proposed plan and to allow people an opportunity to provide feedback directly to the Michigan Department of Community Health. Staff from the Michigan Department of Community Health will be on hand to present the key points of the proposed plan and answer questions about its implications for services and supports. The state plan is being submitted to the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in April.
The northern Michigan forum will be held:
Tuesday, March 13, 2012 – 2:30-4:30 PM
The forum will take place at Munson Medical Center's Lower Level Conference Room, at 1105 6th Street in Traverse City, Michigan, and also through a videoconference feed to the Northern Lakes CMH Houghton Lake Office at 2715 South Townline Road in Houghton Lake.
We encourage all stakeholders to attend this important forum!
